The love inspired by rebel rivers Since 1989 Europe has no longer been divided. Yet the sense of a common identity has difficulty establishing itself. Was the sudden violence of the Elbe and tha Moldava and tha Danube neccessary to feel united?? In Germany in recent years a whole series of anecdotes abaut the "separated brothers" has sprung up. But the Elbe and tha Moldava have not rebelled in order to accelerate European unity - or in tha case of the Moldava and the Danube to support the imminent extension to the Czech Republic and to Hungary - but to remind us that now that another century has ended.
