Thought originally a native of NorthAmerica, the tomato has found its ideal habitat in the province of naples, where it has flourished and evolved towards incresingly fine domestic species. In short, it has become a genuine art.

The finest local tomatoes known as "del piennolo" come from the area of Vesuvius national Park. Tey grrow in clusters and boast a heady scent and marvellous sweetish - sour flavour due to a special combination of sugar and mineral salts, while tha hight concentrations of lycopene, an anti-oxydiser that protects tha cells from deterioration, makes them very healty.
